PERSONAL BRANDING AND YOUR
“GOLDEN THREAD” (2-MINUTE MOVIE):
I’m asked many questions about personal branding. People ask, “how do I get my personal brand?” And in the career services, there is so much buzz about this buzzword phrase called personal branding.
I’m here to say that you can relax. You already have your brand – it’s already baked inside you – nobody can give it to you.
For example, if you listen to some of the gurus on this topic, you’d think personal branding was as painful as this …
Or if that’s not painful enough, just imagine personal branding from a tattoo parlor …
No, no, no – personal branding need not be complicated!
And to discover your basic personal brand, I don’t do anything overly elaborate. I interview you in depth for two to three hours, going all the way back to high school and continuing to the present. I record the entire session, organize your words, and then I connect the dots.
I connect those dots and and find a pattern that I call “the golden thread.”
Voila ! Eventually, your personal brand emerges from the murky depths of your own mind (btw – you’re welcome to keep the recording).
Everything I do with resumes involves personal branding.
You can brand yourself further with a self-published book, a web site, or a blog. I can help you with that. For example, this very site you’re visiting was designed and built by me – all starting from scratch – text, videos, graphics, and WordPress.
And the mechanics of self-publishing via services like Amazon’s is ridiculously easy
But starting from a blank page – creating content – is the hard part, and that’s where I come in. For example:
